Mary J. Blige Beats Rihanna In Second Week Of Billboard Album Sales

Mary J. Blige‘s latest LP ‘My Life II: The Journey Continues,‘ has sold more copies than Rihanna‘s latest project, 'Talk That Talk.‘ in their second week on the charts.

With a sales decline of 67% since last week, Rihanna‘s ‘Talk‘ moved a measly 64,286 copies in the US this week placing it at No.7 while Blige‘s ‘My Life’ comes in at #5 selling 71,530 units in the last seven days.

This of course is bad news for Island Def Jam who two weeks ago watched Rihanna once again miss out on scoring a No.1 album for the sixth consecutive time, despite the success of the project’s lead single "We Found Love."

Elsewhere on the chart, Adele‘s ‘21‘ holds court at #2 with 145,215 units moved while Drake‘s ‘Take Care’ remains at #4 after selling an impressive 89, 469 copies in the last seven days, pushing its total sales well above the 900,000 mark less than a month since its release.

Lady Gaga Already Has A Title For Next Album

Will Katy Perry's "One That Got Away" Sale Price Boost It Up Hot 100?

Could new sale pricing of Katy Perry's "The One That Got Away" help push it to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart in the coming weeks?

The track has been discounted to 69 cents in the U.S. iTunes Store, a little more than half of the $1.29 regular price of most current hits. It's the only song priced less than $1.29 among the top 75-selling singles in the iTunes Store.

The new low price comes shortly before Perry serves as host of the Dec. 10 edition of NBC's "Saturday Night Live."

Whatever juice the single receives from the sale price won't be reflected on the Hot 100 chart until next week. This week's tally includes sales data for the week ending Dec. 4th.

"The One That Got Away" is the sixth top 10 Hot 100 single from Perry's "Teenage Dream," making it one of only seven albums to score six or more Hot 100 top 10s in history. Last week, the song rose 10-9 on the chart.

Mary J. Blige's Hot 97 Interview With Swizz Beatz

Lady Gaga Shows Some PDA With Taylor Kinney in L.A.

Lady Gaga and buzzed-about beau Taylor Kinney were spotted sharing some backstage PDA at the KIIS-FM Jingle Ball at L.A.'s Nokia Theatre.

The two kept their hands to themselves in public, but they were spotted embracing in the privacy of the hallway backstage.

While some of the actor's Vampire Diaries costars were at the show, and even walked the red carpet, he stuck by Gaga for her headlining performance, and onlookers later spotted the two holding hands and acting like a couple.

30-year-old Kinney is an avid surfer who starred as Mason Lockwood on the hit series The Vampire Diaries. He hails from Pennsylvania and lives in Mission Viejo, a beach community in southern Orange County, famed for its sky scraping waves.

Mary J. Blige Talks “My Life II” With Swizz Beatz

When Mary J. Blige dropped 1994's 'My Life,' she admits it was personally a tough time for her. Ironically the album’s also hailed as her best work.

Having recently released 'My Life II: The Journey Continues (Act 1)', the Queen of Hip Hop Soul sat down with Swizz Beatz at New York’s radio station Hot 97 to discuss the inspiration behind the album and her own life lessons.

The Grammy award-winning singer says that when she started working on the album, she realized trial has been consistent in her life.

She says, “Every time I learned how to get through hard times there was always something on the other side. I felt like there was so much healing in the title My Life itself that why would I name it something else?”

Even though Blige, 40, says the dark days are still there, she also acknowledges making the decision to move past them that keep her on the journey. Watch the complete interview by CLICKING HERE.

Amy's 'Lioness: Hidden Treasures' Tops U.K. Charts Posthumously

Amy Winehouse has reached number one on the British charts already, as her father, Mitch Winehouse, tweeted the announcement.

On his Twitter page, Mitch wrote: "Just been told, Amy at number 1. 140,000 sold = £140,000 to foundation in one day. Well done baby."

He also added that his "heart is still sad but bursting with pride."

A day after Amy's 'Back to Black' was passed by Adele's '21' as the highest selling LP in the 2000s, 'Lioness: Hidden Treasures' hit the top weekly spot.

The album features unreleased tracks and covers of the late Amy's songs. Tweleve songs were chosen out of thousands of hours of Amy's vocal work by her collaborators Salaam Remi and Mark Ronson.

Katy Perry Really Wants That 6th No.1 For 'Teenage Dream' LP

Katy Perry has once again slashed the price of “The One That Got Away” to the affordable price of $0.69, which is an obvious attempt to score yet another No.1 single from her recent 'Teenage Dream' album.

This is not the first time that Katy has cut prices to climb the charts, but you already know that. I guess her label figures if its worked before then why not try it again.

Effective as of last month, any albums priced below $3.49 during their month of release will be refused entry onto the Billboard 200. I would expect that eventually Billboard will do the same when it comes to discounted singles as well.

Leona Lewis Gearing Up To Release “Hurt” EP

In the wake of Leona Lewis‘ classy club track “Collide” being considered a flop (although I loved it), her third studio album has been pushed back until next year, and her label has now decided to release an EP instead.

Usually, after an artist has a chart flop, their album is pushed back indefinitely, which they spend the next year recording new material. By that time all their old stuff is so dated it ends up being scrapped for good (i.e. Cassie, Nicole Scherzinger, Ciara and Kelly Rowland).

It would be smart to release their music legally on iTunes so the fans have something to listen to and purchase.

Unfortunately, Leona’s Hurt EP, due out December 9th in the UK, only contains three cover songs and no original material, but it’s definitely a step in the right direction.

Gloria Estefan To Join 'Spanglish Episode' Of Glee

Gloria Estefan and Ricky Martin are confirmed to be joining "Glee" for an episode in the new year, according to the show's executive music producer Adam Anders.

"We just announced Ricky Martin and Gloria Estefan for a Spanglish episode," he told Billboard.com Sunday night. "We're just starting the planning, so I don't know (which songs the pair will sing.) I wouldn't tell you anyway!"

Anders did admit that a crazy mash-up with Martin's "Livin' la Vida Loca" and Estefan's "Conga" would be a cool route for the two superstars.

According to earlier reports citing inside sources, Estefan will be playing Santana's mother while Martin will be McKinley High's new Spanish teacher in the episode.

Adele’s ’21′ Becomes UK's Highest Selling Album Of 21st Century

After what can only be described as an astounding year for Brit DIVA Adele, her latest album ‘21‘ is now the highest selling British album of the 21st Century.

Adele's '21' moved up 9-5, in the week that it overtook Amy Winehouse's 'Back To Black' to become the U.K.'s biggest-selling album of the 21st century, with 3.4 million in sales compared to Winehouse's 3.3 million.

'Black' has had since October 2006 to build sales, while '21' was only released in January. It has spent 45 weeks in the U.K. top 10, including 18 at No. 1.

Spawning the singles "Rolling In The Deep," "Someone Like You" and "Set Fire To The Rain," the album is also the highest selling US album of the year, beating the likes of Lady Gaga, Beyonce and Rihanna to the top spot with over 4.75 million units sold in the country.

Rihanna Loses No.1 Spot Atop UK Album Charts

Rihanna‘s UK fans took her latest effort ‘Talk That Talk‘ to top of the album chart and helped her to score her third No.1 LP in the country.

However, as of this chart week, the album- in unison with it’s lead single "We Found Love," is no longer the nation’s highest selling release.

Slipping by two places, ‘Talk That Talk‘ and "We Found Love," are now this weeks No.3 album and single respectively.

Meanwhile, Beyonce‘s ‘4‘ rose by 13 spots to No.49 after 23 weeks on the chart while its single "Love On Top" rises to No.29 after spending last week at No.54, most likely aided by the anticipation her upcoming ’A Night With Beyonce‘ television special has garnered in the country.

Elsewhere, Kelly Rowland‘s ‘Here I Am‘ debuts at No.56 while her single "Down For Whatever" holds court at No.9.

Katy Perry Goes Back To Blonde … Almost

Katy Perry‘s hair has had a bit of an identity crisis this year, but it seems that for now, the "California Gurl" has settled on a semi-permanent color: blonde with lavender highlights.

Perry popped up at the Change Begins Within benefit celebration in Los Angeles on Saturday sporting a chic new bob, which replaces the long lavender locks she’s sported for months.

With her California Dreams tour over, it seems the singer is ready for a change.

Perry, who’s had jet-black hair for a good portion of her career, began dying her hair in June, first going red. A month later, she changed her hue again, going blonde (her natural color) in an effort to achieve a “secret color.”

That shade ended up being lavender, a look she sported from August up until this weekend — save for the moments she opted for her colorful wigs, instead.

Taylor Swift Named Billboard's 'Woman of the Year'

On Dec. 2nd, Taylor Swift accepted Billboard's Woman of the Year award during Billboard's Women in Music event at Capitale in New York. At 21, Swift is the youngest artist ever to receive the honor.

The annual award celebrates the achievements of a trailblazing female recording artist during the past 12 months and acknowledges her overall success and leadership in the music business.

For Swift, the honor comes at the close of a year in which she earned the entertainer of the year award from both the Academy of Country Music in April and the Country Music Assn. (CMA) in November. In May, Swift also won Billboard Music Awards for top country album, top Billboard 200 artist and top country artist.

"I'm just as shocked by it as all the fans are in the audience," Swift says of her guest stars, "the fact that they would spend their evening coming out and playing for free for my fans."

That gesture, made by artists across a variety of genres in numerous cities, speaks volumes about Swift's influence on pop culture.
