Catholic League Wants NFL To Ban Madonna From Half-Time Show

The Catholic League has called on the NFL to band Madonna from performing at the Super Bowl, probably fully aware that it's not going to work.

Here's what Bill Donohue wrote to the NFL:

The NFL would do well to drop any plans it may have about inviting Madonna to perform during the Super Bowl. Here's why.

In 2004, the NFL invited 'N Sync's JC Chasez to sing during the halftime of the Pro Bowl game. When Chasez said he was going to sing his latest single, "Some Girls (Dance with Women)," the NFL objected, citing the sexual lyrics that may offend viewers (at the time, the NFL was still receiving flak over the Justin Timberlake-Janet Jackson Super Bowl controversy).

The NFL then asked Chasez to sing "Blowin' Me Up (With Her Love)" instead. Chasez agreed to do so. Then the NFL decided that the singer had to drop the lyrics "horny" and "naughty" from the song. Again, Chasez acceded to the request. The NFL then reconsidered the propriety of having Chasez sing altogether, and decided to withdraw the invitation (he was offered to sing the national anthem, but declined).

Kylie Becomes Dr. Minogue After Receiving Honorary Degree

Kylie Minogue spoke of her own battle for health as she received an honorary degree for her work promoting breast cancer awareness.

The Australian pop star and actress, who famously fought the disease herself, received an honorary Doctor of Health Sciences award from Anglia Ruskin University in Chelmsford tonight. It means the pop princess is now entitled to call herself Dr Minogue.

Wearing a traditional doctoral cap and gown over trousers, she spoke to about 220 graduates from the faculty of education.

"I never went to university so my dad will be very proud when he sees the pictures. I am here partly for the work I do promoting breast cancer awareness. When you are diagnosed yourself it becomes a lot more real and you appreciate at first hand the hard work that goes on to support patients through it."

The singer was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005 and underwent surgery and chemotherapy to beat the disease. She was given the all-clear the following year. She has since been credited with the "Kylie effect" - encouraging young women for undergoing regular screenings.

Kelly Rowland Covers Latest Issue Of Cosmopolitan UK

Kelly Rowland covers the latest issue of Cosmopolitan UK, and dishes about a whole host of things— marriage, her affinity for British dudes, not seeing her dad in 20 years— but it's her boobs that take center stage. The notoriously flat-chested singer got breast implants back in 2008.

"I said in an interview a long time ago that I'd get it done because I just had little nuggets for boobs and it was bothering me," she tells Cosmo.

"The decision was 10 years in the making so I'm comfortable talking about it. It's something I really wanted to do for myself - not for a man, not for work, for myself...and I love them!"

Owing to her recent success, we'd say most people probably feel the same way. Her music being great also helps.

Kelly Clarkson stayed ahead of the leakers by premiering new track "What Doesn't Kill You (Stronger)" last night on her official website.

The track, which partially shares its name with the title of her upcoming album, "Stronger," is a return to the feisty, rock-pop belter we know Clarkson to be.

To accompany the track, Clarkson wrote on her site: "Hey ya'll - I heard that some versions of "What Doesn't Kill You (Stronger)" started showing up online. My new album 'Stronger' is out in 3 weeks (Oct 24) and I want you to hear the real thing! Check it out!"

Clarkson's week of release will include two appearances on the "Today" show (Oct. 25 and 27), as well as "The View" and "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon."

Katy Perry In The Studio Re-working 'Teenage Dream' Leftovers

Katy Perry has been back in the studio with Tricky Stewart “freshening up” some of Teenage Dream’s leftover tracks.

“Katy and I went into [the studio] just to address some issues with records that we had done in the past that didn’t end up going on Teenage Dream,” Stewart tells MTV. “So we are in the process of just listening and freshening up things and getting ready for something special she has going on.”

Tricky wouldn’t spill the beans on what the songs would be used for, but he did dish some details on one track in particular.

“This song is really special. It’s called ‘Dressing Up,’ so it’s going to be a big record, I think,” he said. “It definitely fits. It’s right there in what her sensibilities are as a musician and a songwriter. She doesn’t change much. She has a very keen musical taste. It’ll be really good.”

Rihanna Breaks Madonna Record For Artist To Have 20 Hot 100 Top 10s

Rihanna roars to a 20th Billboard Hot 100 top 10 single faster than any other solo artist, as "We Found Love," featuring Calvin Harris, darts 16-9 in its second chart week.

Having first graced the Hot 100 the week of June 11, 2005, with the eventual No. 2-peaking "Pon De Replay," Rihanna reaches 20 top 10s in a span of just six years and four months, besting Madonna for the quickest collection of top 10s among soloists (from an artist's first Hot 100 appearance) in the chart's 53-year history.

Madonna tallied her 20th top 10, "Hanky Panky," the week of July 28, 1990, for a stretch of six years and nine months after her chart introduction with "Holiday." Rihanna, thus, bests Madonna's mark by five months.

Taylor Swift Sparks A Craze Over Christian Siriano Gown

Taylor Swift not only knows her way around a mic, but knows how to work it out in haute designer attire.

The songstress recently caught the attention of many in her Wonderstruck fragrance campaign, in which she wears a dress from Christian Siriano's Spring 2011 collection. It seems to have had a positive effect on Siriano's bottom line.

"I have orders all day long on that dress," Siriano said. In fact orders are pouring in so rapidly that Christian and his design team can barley make the gowns fast enough to keep up with demand.

The gown, a blush colored explosion of taffeta, is a sweet, delicate creation perfect for the pop-country princess. The fluffy creation is quite fitting with the enchanted and romantic perfume ad as it sits behind the slogan "The Beginning of Something Magical."

Lady Gaga's Story To Get Lifetime Movie Treatment

Lifetime wants its piece of the Lady Gaga pie. The female focused cable network is developing a biopic based on the life of Lady Gaga.

Titled "Fame Monster: The Lady Gaga Story," the project if picked up, would chronicle the life of the recording artist, born Stefani Germanotta.

According to Showbiz411.com, the project is "a love letter to Gaga" and follows her from age 16 through her rise to fame.

"When we first meet her she is a dark haired, off beat, very talented and intensely ambitious teen,"
reads the description. "We are seeking an actress who can physically resemble Lady Gaga and who can believably span ages 16 to 22."

"I would have Marisa Tomei play me," Gaga once told SiriusXM's The Morning Mash Up of the 46-year-old actress. "All my friends call me Marisa when I get angry because my New York accent just flies out of my body."

Who do you think would make a good Gaga?

It’s been a year now since Taylor Swift’s blockbuster third album 'Speak Now' rocketed onto the Billboard charts with first-week sales of over 1 million copies.

Jessie J Confirmed As Coach On ‘The Voice’ UK

NBC’s ‘The Voice’ has somewhat pulled the rug from the unsuspecting feet of Simon Cowell’s ‘X Factor.’

Hoping to replicate such success in the UK, the BBC (who are producing the show’s British version) have announced their first ‘coach’ – Pop DIVA Jessie J!

The signing of "Price Tag" singer is no doubt a a major coup and power move by the BBC, who will be looking to differentiate their show from Cowell’s.

Yet, with ‘Voice’s’ strong emphasis on vocal ability, and less of the pantomime its rival is so famed for, enlisting the 23 year old sends quite the clear message.

Particularly given the names initially linked to the position such as Cheryl Cole, Danni Minogue, among others.

The Voice UK launches early next year on BBC1.

Letoya Luckett Talks Movies, Music & Destiny’s Child

Letoya Luckett recently sat down with Essence magazine to dish on her many upcoming ventures.

ESSENCE: What is the film “From the Rough” about?
LETOYA LUCKETT: It stars Taraji P. Henson, Michael Clark Duncan, and Tom Felton of “Harry Potter.” It’s a true story about Coach Starks, the first — not just African-American — but female to coach a men’s golf team. My character Stacey was one of her students and I fall in love with Tom Felton’s character.

E: We heard you’re in the studio now, what can we expect from the new album?
L: I am so excited about the new album. Of course it’s going to be R&B, I gotta stay true to my fans. But I want to try some different stuff. I’ve grown from the last album. So, I’m definitely gonna tell my story as I always do. But I’m going to try some different stuff: more live instruments, some soulful stuff, and more uptempos on this album. A lot of people compliment the fact that all of my songs tell a story. I’m actually doing a docu-webseries that I’m releasing on my Twitter (@LeToyaLuckett). I’m going to let the camera in and let the fans in on the progress of this album and other things I’m promoting as well.
