Mariah Carey Predicted To Sell 50-60k This Week

According to chart analysts at Hits Daily Double, Mariah Carey’s ‘Merry Christmas II You,’ is expected to sell anywhere from 50-60k units judging by retail figures after its first day in stores.

A respectable showing for a Christmas album released in November without a single live performance to support it.

‘Merry Christmas II You’ currently sits comfortably in the top 10 of both iTunes and Amazon will most likely debut in the top 10 of the Billboard 200 next week.

By comparison, Carey’s first Holiday collection, ‘Merry Christmas,’ debuted in 1994 at #30 on the chart with less than 45k sold before experiencing large increases in sales as the season progressed.

Nicki Minaj: “Roman’s Revenge Wasn’t About Lil’ Kim”

Nicki Minaj and Eminem’s epic collaboration "Roman’s Revenge," appeared to be not-so-subtle jabs at fellow rapper Lil’ Kim.

However, in a recent interview with DJ Khalid, Minaj denied the song was directed at Kim. In fact, she denied it was directed at anybody in-particular.

"No, I’m talking about everyone who has been in interviews talking and I think it’s good for people to hear me respond.

"People have said so much about me, So I don’t ever single anyone out because no one is worth being singled out. No one is worth having their name mentioned out of my mouth and they never will get that.

"I’ve been quiet for such a long time and I’ve been the nice guy. I’ve been the person that gave everyone their props. I’ve complimented everybody from day one. I think that as a rapper, you can’t be a rapper and not speak on things being said about you. I use my music to say what I have to say."

Rihanna's Latest Singles On Billboard's Hot 100

Rihanna's "Only Girl (In The World)" slips a spot to No. 4.

"What's My Name," Rihanna's second single from "Loud," out Nov. 16th, jumps 83-60 with Airplay Gainer honors.

Without a digital single contributing to its ranking (it will next week), the title becomes the lowest-ranked Airplay Gainer winner since T.I.'s "Whatever You Like" (No. 71) on the chart dated Aug. 30, 2008, similarly a week prior to that single's digital release.

T.I. took his track straight to No. 1 the following week, a move Rihanna could possibly mirror on our next chart, though a bump into the top 10 is more likely.

Mariah Carey To Sell Lifestyle Collection Live On HSN

With a successful fragrance franchise under her belt and her first baby on the way, Mariah Carey already has plenty on her plate, but that’s not stopping the multi-platinum star from gearing up to launch her first lifestyle line of sparkly baubles, shoes and limited-edition fragrance for HSN on Nov. 29.

And Mariah fans will not be disappointed. From the pave-set “initial” pendants to the crystal-encrusted butterfly earrings, the collection is signature Mariah. “From the inception of working with Elizabeth Arden, I wanted the fragrances to represent what I really like,” Mariah tells WWD.

“It really opened my eyes and opened the doors for me in terms of starting to think about going into other creative ventures.” And although it comes as no shock that the high-heel queen would extend her creativity to shoes–her line includes fur-trimmed suede boots and quilted nylon boots–she admits that jewelry wasn’t always on her radar.

“I never even used to wear jewelry. I used to wear baby earrings, tiny things,” she said, but once she was influenced by HSN’s resident fashionistas, she was sold. And with 20 years of performing in the bag, Mariah’s Nov. 29 TV time isn’t striking any nerves, telling WWD, “I think it’s just about being yourself, explaining the different products and enjoying yourself.”

Céline Dion: We Thought We Were Having Triplets

Céline Dion and her hubby René Angélil are overjoyed about the birth of their twin boys, Eddy and Nelson, but before they were born, there was also some heartbreak.

"For about a week, we thought we had triplets, but sadly on the next visit to the doctor's, we only heard two heartbeats," Dion, 42, tells Hello! magazine in its current issue.

"That little baby decided to leave the space for the two others and to say goodbye to us," she says. "It happened very early during the pregnancy, but still, it shocks you."

But now Dion says she's currently in a good place. "[Motherhood] is going well," she says. "I don't get a lot of sleep ... For sure I'm tired, but that's what I want. And it's only for the first month or so."

Dion says even though her little ones were just born, they're already demonstrating character.

"One is more gutsy than the other," she says. "Nelson seems to have a little stronger personality right now. He's the tougher of the two."

Dion continues, "They are fraternal twins, but they look very alike. Nelson weighed more at the birth, but the doctor told us in a week or two, they're going to be the same."

Katy Perry On Harpers Bazzar Magazine Cover

Katy Perry says she found the just the right mix in her new husband, Russell Brand – someone in whom funniness is next to godliness.

"I always knew I wanted a great man of God, someone who was going to be an inspiration for people and also be a lovely husband and father," the pop star, 26, tells Harper's Bazaar in its December issue, on newsstands Nov. 23.

She adds: "I also definitely wanted to have a laugh. I have all that in him."

Brand, 35, first achieved notoriety in England as a hard-partying comedian, but later had a spiritual awakening and got sober after years of heroin and alcohol abuse. A decade older than his California-born wife, he's traveled a longer road – but she says they're still a perfect fit.

"We're at different places in our lives, but we can still grow together," she says. "He's thought-provoking, articulate, a real advocate."

Perry says she wrote the ballad "Not Like the Movies" about realizing that Brand was the one. "The song is an encouragement to others," she says. "They don't have to settle for anything besides spectacular."

Asked about her own image – in particular, how she uses her sex appeal to her advantage – Perry admits to walking the line between being wholesome and not so wholesome.

"I'm kind of a good girl – and I'm not," she says. "I'm a good girl because I really believe in love, integrity, and respect. I'm a bad girl because I like to tease. I know that I have sex appeal in my deck of cards. But I like to get people thinking. That's what the stories in my music do."

Christina Aguilera Covers Redbook Magazine

Christina Aguilera, who filed for divorce from her husband Jordan Bratman last month, says women are often more powerful than they think.

"Every woman has the ability or the drive to do it all and have it all," Aguilera tells Redbook in its December issue.

"Men aren't as strong and capable as we are," she says. "We're machines."

Although Aguilera, 29, is going through a painful split, she says her son Max, who turns 3 in January, is always a priority as she negotiates motherhood and her career.

"My life is cyclical," she says. "First it's album time, then it's touring time. I'm not a 9-to-5 woman who has the same kind of lifestyle for years on end. I couldn't do it. I need the spontaneity, that thrill of change."

"This is what the cards have in store for Max," she says. "We put it into his brain early on that he's a traveling guy. He adapts well when we go from hotel to hotel."

Her pal and fellow mom Nicole Richie thinks her friend is very dedicated.

"It's very clear through Christina's music what a strong woman she is," Richie says. "But to watch her as a mother only sky-rockets the respect I have for her … Her dedication to Max is incredible."

Fergie Taking Her 'Own Journey' Away From Addiction

Fergie has addressed her battle with crystal meth addiction but she wants to make one thing clear about her recovery.

"I'm not claiming to be sober," the singer tells Glamour in its December issue. "I think that that would be misleading. I drink alcohol. My father has a vineyard, and [the wine is] really delicious, by the way."

"Anyway, for most addicts, they would advise never to have any sort of substance," she says. "I just have my own journey, and I am very blessed to this day to be alive."

As part of that journey, Fergie shares her advice for young women on how to stay positive and make their dreams come true.

"There were periods of my life when a lot of people didn't believe in me," she tells Katie Couric, who interviewed her.

"I still had faith in myself. I really had to ask myself life questions. Where do I see myself in five years? Create a ladder for yourself, and walk up the steps. Climb that ladder."

As for her relationship with hubby Josh Duhamel, the musician says weathering an infidelity scandal together solidified their bond.

"Our relationship was stronger than that," she says. "We live in a voyeuristic world, and it's part of our business. But I like to [focus on] all the perks that I get in this business."

Rihanna And Eminem's "Love the Way You Lie (Part II)" Sequel Leaks

"Love the Way You Lie (Part II)," the sequel to Eminem and Rihanna's Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hit, has leaked online.

The track continues the theme of a tormented and abusive relationship but is told mainly from Rihanna's perspective. "Even angels have their wicked schemes, and you take that to new extremes," she sings forlornly in the opening verse. "But you'll always be my hero, even though you've lost your mind."

Eminem sounds just as emotionally torn by his love in the song, as he rhymes, "Baby, without you I'm nothing, I'm so lost, hug me/Then tell me how ugly I am, but that you'll always love me/Then after that, shove me, in the aftermath of the/Destructive path that we're on two psychopaths but we/Know that no matter how many knives that we put in each other's backs, that we'll have each other's backs."

The chorus echoes that of the original "Love the Way You Lie," which was featured on Eminem's "Recovery" and spent seven weeks at No. 1 on the Hot 100, from July 31 to Sept. 11. "Love the Way You Lie (Part II)" is featured on Rihanna's upcoming album, "Loud," due out Nov. 16th.

Eva Longoria Parker To Pull Off Eight ‘Way Out’ MTV EMA Outfits

Much like her fiery and always fashionable onscreen Desperate Housewives character, Gabrielle Solis, Eva Longoria Parker is also promising to stir things up, at least stylistically speaking, as the host of the upcoming MTV Europe Music Awards on Nov. 7th.

“Music awards are always pushing the limits of fashion, so anything goes,”
she tells MTV in a promotional interview. “There is kind of a double license to wear what you want. Normal rules don’t apply. So, I’m going to try and see if I can pull off some ‘way out’ outfits.”

And while Eva is looking forward to testing the fashion waters at the upcoming event in Madrid, she also fesses up to some outrageous ensembles from the not-so-distant past. “I wore a skimpy pink swimsuit at the MTV VMAs in Miami in 2005. That was pretty daring but I think I carried it off,” she says.

And her ultimate fashion cringe-worthy moment? “I wore a leather outfit to the premiere of Tomb Raider. That was a real fashion faux pas!” Although Eva has had just a few red-carpet ‘what was she thinking?’ moments, one designer that she’s definitely going to don for the show never disappoints.

“One thing is for sure, I will be wearing one of Victoria Beckham‘s dresses. She’s a good friend of mine,” she says. See the fashionista get into the music groove in her rap video below and tune in to MTV2 on Nov. 7 at 9 p.m. ET to watch Eva in her many outfits at the EMAs!

Ke$ha to Crash Hot 100 at No. 1 With 'We R Who We R'

Ke$ha's "We R Who We R" is set to become just the 17th song to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 when the chart is officially released tomorrow (Nov. 4).

The track is the preview single from Ke$ha's forthcoming "Cannibal" album, set to be released on its own on Nov. 22 in addition to being packaged with her debut album, "Animal," in a deluxe edition titled "Animal Cannibal."

"We R Who We R" shifts 280,000 downloads in its initial week at retail to easily rank at No. 1 on Digital Songs, knocking Far*East Movement's "Like a G6" (178,000, down 13%) to No. 2 on both that chart and the Hot 100. "Like a G6" topped the latter list for the past two weeks and had led Digital Songs for three non-consecutive frames.

Ke$ha's track is also making an swift impact at radio, debuting at No. 49 on Radio Songs (up 81%) and jumping 36-23 on Pop Songs (up 124%).

"We R Who We R" is the second title this year to start its chart life at No. 1, following Eminem's "Not Afraid" in May. Prior to Eminem's debut, Britney Spears had been the last artist to enter at No. 1, with "3" in October 2009.

Britney Spears Tries To Protect Herself In Court

The people in charge of Britney Spears are asking a judge to protect her from a potential "shake down" by a former bodyguard who they believe could release info that may put Britney in danger.

It all has to do with a lawsuit filed by Fernando Flores, a former bodyguard who claims the pop star sexually harassed him by, among other things, walking around her home in the nude.

Flores wants the case tried in civil court, but Britney's conservators are concerned that Flores will use the public forum to release private information to extort a settlement out of Britney.

In new legal docs filed in L.A. County Superior Court, Team Britney begs the judge to move the case to a probate court, where all of the accusations could be kept from the public ... and protect her from a "shake down."
The conservators also believe, "There is a real possibility that Ms. Spears will be exposed to danger by the release of confidential and personal information."

A hearing on the matter is scheduled for the end of the month.

Christina Aguilera Ranks In $1 Million For Halloween Gig

Christina Aguilera had to work this Halloween weekend performing a one hour show at a private party for a really rich guy -- but the singer raked in roughly $1,000,000 for the gig.

The guy behind the party is mega-loaded investment guru Charles Brandes, who throws an annual super expensive Halloween bash at his San Diego estate.

We're told Brandes locked in Aguilera to perform this past Saturday night between 7:30 and 8:30 pm, at a rate of $16,666 per minute ... plus hair, makeup, travel and other related costs.

Sources connected to the event insist Brandes didn't pay Christina a dime over $500,000, but several well-connected sources close to Aguilera are standing firm on the million dollar mark.

Either way ... that's a lot for 60 minutes of "work."

Taylor Swift Sells 1 Million Copies Of 'Speak Now' In First Week!

It’s official: Country star Taylor Swift’s new, well-received disc Speak Now—which hit retailers a week ago today—has sold one million copies in its first week, according to HITS Daily Double.

The site also reports that Swift’s total percentage of music sales for the week will be between 17 and 18 percent, meaning that nearly one in every five albums purchased in the past seven days was Speak Now.

The million-mark part of the story, however, is the most impressive: Just consider that no album has sold a million albums in a first week since the debut of Lil’ Wayne’s 'Tha Carter III' in 2008.

Swift’s sales will also likely be the largest week for a country artist since Shania Twain’s Up sold 874K copies in November 2002.

In fact, a country artist hasn’t sold more than a million albums in a week since Garth Brooks’ Double Live in November 1998.
