Shakira’s Sizzling Roberto Cavalli World Cup Costume

Thanks to Shakira and Roberto Cavalli, the 2010 FIFA World Cup will come to a very stylish close.

The sexy singer has been tapped to perform the official song of the World Cup, “Waka-Waka,” at the Closing Ceremony on Sunday. And to help the tournament go out with a bang, Roberto Cavalli has dreamed up an extra-special creation for the international star.

Shakira will take to the stage in a belly-baring tulle top embroidered with multicolor pearls, and a silk fringed skirt–complete with a floral motif and animalier print, according to a release from the Italian fashion label. A denim belt embroidered with African style pearls and leather bracelets with floral silk appliqué will round off the exotic look.

And while we’re sad to see the World Cup’s international eye candy go, we can’t wait to see Shakira shake it in this Roberto Cavalli number!

Britney Spears: I Won't Let My Sons Be in Showbiz

Don't expect Britney Spears's two kids to follow in their famous mom's footsteps. If the pop star has her way, they won't even get a chance to make it big in Hollywood.

"If my sons told me they wanted to be in the entertainment business, I'd lock them in their rooms until they turned 30," she tells the August issue of Cosmopolitan, according to the Huffington Post.

Spears, 28, wants sons Preston, 4, and Jayden, 3, to avoid the downsides of fame that she's had to deal with since her youth – like having paparazzi trail her every move, though acknowledges the attention is "something I always knew would come with the job I chose."

Another topic she isn't looking forward to discussing with her two boys: the birds and the bees. "I'm dreading the moment when my sons ask me how babies are made," she tells the magazine.

But for now, Spears is just enjoying life with her boys who recently graduated from preschool.

"Things are pretty quiet right now," she says. "I've been spending a lot of time at home with my boys. They just started karate class, which is super cute!"

Shakira To Headline World Cup Closing Ceremony

World Cup organizers promise a high-tech closing ceremony featuring Shakira, compared to the more traditionally African ceremony which opened the tournament.

Organizing committee spokesman Jermaine Craig says Sunday's (July 11) show at Soccer City will be "more youthful and a bit more technologically advanced" than the June 11 opening ceremony.

The closing ceremony is scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m. local time, two hours before the final match kicks off.

Colombian star Shakira will perform the official tournament anthem "Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)." Shakira also performed the song at a June 10th World Cup concert in Soweto.

Alicia Keys Falls Onstage At Essence Music Festival

Alicia Keys, who recently confirmed that she is pregnant and engaged to producer Swizz Beatz, toppled over onstage while singing "Love is Blind."

Luckily, Keys immediately got right back up and kept performing, proving that she really is "Unbreakable." The singer's fans needn't worry, as the Huffington Post reports that she was unharmed.

Janet Jackson Amazes Crowd At Essence Festival

Janet Jackson enthralled the Essence Music Festival audience Friday, kept them on their feet for more than two hours and reminded fans why seeing her in concert was worth waiting two years.

From the opening notes of "The Pleasure Principle" to "Control" to "Rhythm Nation," the Grammy Award-winning singer enticed, teased and brought her fans on a journey through her No. 1 hits.

"She was unbelievable," said Ed Downs of Miami. "It was definitely worth the wait. I'm happy to see her make a comeback. It was impressive."

Jackson marked her return by closing the festival's first night inside the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans. It was her first time at the festival, which runs through Sunday.

Former NBA player Anferenee Hardaway called Jackson's performance "absolutely perfect," and said no one could tell she had been off the concert circuit for any length of time.

"She definitely gets better with age," he said, smiling.

Fans got a glimpse of Jackson's new, sassy, short-cropped hair and her signature, shapely figure on the finale show of American Idol where she rocked classics like "Again" and "Nasty" and her latest release, "Nothing," from the soundtrack of the movie, "Why Did I Get Married Too?," which she also starred in.

But near the end of her show Friday, they were treated with even more as she depicted a risque, S&M scene with a male participant from the audience, whose hands and arms were strapped into a straight jacket as Jackson - in a flesh-toned body suit - worked him over, whip in hand.

He mouthed, "Thank you," and couldn't take his eyes off her, getting roars of approval, looks of envy and applause from the crowd.

"I loved it," said Rose Ellerbee of New York. "It was one of the hottest shows I've seen and then she brought back so many memories. She didn't lose a beat."

Cheryl Cole Stricken With Malaria

It's been a rough year for Cheryl Cole. Not only did the Brit file for divorce in May from her husband of four years, but now she's been stricken with malaria.

Cole rose to U.K. fame in 2002 after becoming a member of pop group Girls Aloud. In 2008, she joined Simon Cowell as one of the judges of X Factor, a British singing competition.

The British beauty, 27, who will be the opening act for select European dates of the Black Eyed Peas' E.N.D. World Tour, collapsed Saturday during a photo shoot for her album.

A spokesperson says she's being treated in a London hospital for malaria, a mosquito-borne disease typically spread in tropical areas. Cole reportedly just returned from a trip to Tanzania, had to cancel all work this week.

Malaria, which is preventable to those who are immunized and curable, has been all but eradicated in the developed countries, but still plagues other parts of the world. The World Health Organization says nearly 1 million people died of malaria in 2008, mostly African children.

Ciara Talks 'Basic Instinct' And Going "Back To The Basics" For New Album

Ciara sat down with Entertainment Focus to discuss her upcoming ‘Basic Instinct’ album recently. Check out what CiCi had to say below:

You’re new album Basic Instinct is coming later this year. Are you still recording the record or have you finished now?

Well I’ve almost finished. I’m about 95% done. That’s what I’m going to do today – I’m going to finalise the (track)listing for my album too. We’re at the very end. We’ve got some interludes and stuff like that but I’m almost at the very end now.

What can we expect from the album?

With this record I’m taking it back to basics and giving my fans what they love. It’s me taking it back to when I first started. I have to say on this record I put a warning that it’s bass heavy because that’s how I started out; the bass is always important…it’s an important ingredient to my music.

There’s definitely a lot of bass but at the same time you’re going to be able to put it on and listen to it from beginning to end. It will definitely keep you out of your seat. Even the slow records tell such great stories and are still so good I feel like my fans are going to be happy. I do believe that when you hear the record you’re really gonna have a good time listening to the music. It’s going to take you to a really fun place.

Is it going to be an evolution from your first three albums or will it offer a mixture of sounds?

It’s definitely going to be a mixture. It’s going to have a bit of the ingredients from my first record. One thing I’ve always said is that I want my albums to have all three; I want it to be a bit of the hip-hop, a little bit of the R&B and pop. I’ve been very blessed and my music has always been able to go into those areas.

For example with my first record I toured with 50 Cent, Lil’ Jon and Ludacris…I was the only female there and I was able to hold my own in the middle of all those guys. Later on in my career I had a record with Justin (Timberlake) and it was very different from my world. I was just able to share that side of me there. It’s really important to me that it’s a combination and that it can travel from the hood in Atlanta to the UK – that’s important to me. It’s definitely going to have a little hip-hop, R&B and pop.

Lady Gaga: The Queen Of Twitter-ville!

Lady Gaga for President? Well, not quite – though the "Poker Face" chanteuse has overtaken Barack Obama to become the most popular living person on Facebook – and the first to attract more than 10 million friends.

All told, as of 9 a.m. Tuesday Eastern Time, Gaga has 10,996,842 Facebook friends, compared to former champ Barack Obama's 9,967,630.

Not that this places Gaga (real name: Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta), 24, at the top of the heap. The five other subjects topping her on the Facebook are (in order of ranking): Texas Hold 'Em Poker, Michael Jackson, Mafia Wars, Facebook and Family Guy.

Even so, "Lady Gaga has seen her fan base across Facebook more than double this year and is currently the fastest growing star," Daniel Dearlove, of the social media statistics Web site Famecount, tells the BBC.

"Achieving 10 million fans is a remarkable testament both to her stardom and to Facebook's extraordinary reach."

As for other Famecount faves, the most popular actor turns out to be Ashton Kutcher; favorite sports team, the L.A. Lakers; movie, Twilight; and athlete, Shaquille O'Neal.

Nicole Scherzinger The Next 'X Factor' Judge?

Nicole Scherzinger has a long, lean leg up on the competition to land in a judge's chair next fall when Simon Cowell launches X Factor in the U.S.

The Pussycat Doll-turned-Dancing with the Stars champion is filling in for pregnant Dannii Minogue when the original UK version of X Factor tapes an audition episode next week.

In many ways it is an audition for her too, a source says. If Scherzinger does well, she'll have an "inside track" for the permanent job in the U.S. come September, 2011.

Scherzinger has another important reason for wanting to be in the UK right now. Her boyfriend Lewis Hamilton is scheduled to drive in a Formula One Grand Prix race next Sunday at Silverstone.

How Katy Perry Tamed 'Professional Prostitute' Russell Brand

What do an outspoken comedian and an unconventional pop star have in common? Just about everything.

"I'm like, 'Oh my God, I am you. You are me,' " Katy Perry says about fiancé Russell Brand in the August issue of Esquire.

But having a partner who's so much like her doesn't exactly mean there's going to be total harmony in the relationship – because, as Perry, 25, blatantly puts it, "[we are] two divas in one house."

"It's like splitting the atom: it shouldn't happen," she adds.

Still, the bride-to-be thinks she and the Brit funnyman are a perfect fit and she'll take credit for taming Brand, 35, who has spoken out about his sex and drug addiction in the past.

"He used to basically be a professional prostitute – now he's not," says Perry. "He's an extremist, which can be both good and bad. I always needed someone stronger than me and I am, like, a [expletive] strong elephant of a woman. I say that hopefully in the humblest way I can."

That strength was on full display when the two first met.

"I was 25, 30 feet away from him. And I threw the bottle straight at him. Hit him smack dab on the head," she recalls. "Can you imagine the horrible feeling he had, when he was used to getting everything he wanted? I was like, 'You've met your match.' "

Ciara Defends The-Dream’s Comments

The-Dream found himself in a sticky situation last week when he commented on the state of Ciara’s career, claiming that her upcoming ‘Basic Instinct’ project is basically her “last chance” at major success.

Now, after being slammed by Ciara’s fans,Ciara herself has come to his defense. Check out what she had to say:

“Let me tell you one thing about Dream, if you don’t know him you’ll misunderstand him,” Ciara said in his defense.

“One thing about him is he has a big heart, you know so he never means to come from the wrong place however sometime when he speaks, he might say something and it comes off a certain way.

"So I talked to him and I really got on him. I was like ‘yo what are you talking about!? I don’t even understand what you’re trying to say.’ But we talked about it. We’re like family…it did come out wrong but it’s all love. We’re like brother and sister.”

Lady Gaga Knows How To Sell Magazines!

Rolling Stone is featuring Lady Gaga on their cover this month and is raking in the cash for the popular magazine.

One circulation source said that first weekend sales of the magazine put it on target to sell about 200,000 copies.

That's nearly double the 107,000 copies that the company had been averaging for the previous six months on newsstands.

A company spokesman would not confirm the projection, but did say, "We expect it to be easily the best-selling issue of the year."

The Web version also generated 7 million unique visitors to the site. So it seems that the Web publicity only helped fuel interest in the magazine.

Aretha Franklin To Perform With Condeleezza Rice

Aretha Franklin will take the stage next month with an accomplished accompanist more famous for diplomacy: Condoleezza Rice.

The pair will play at Philadelphia's Mann Center for the Performing Arts on July 27 in show that will feature Franklin's music and classical composers.

The Mann Center's website says former Secretary of State Rice will accompany Franklin on piano for "Say A Little Prayer," "Natural Woman," selections from Mozart and more.

Franklin says in a statement that "Rice is a consummate classical pianist and that since I sing the arias, I thought that we could do something, a bipartisan effort for our favorite charities."

The venue says the performance is a benefit for programs that support inner city children and its own education initiatives.
