Janet Jackson Is Back In The Studio!!!

After a rather tumultuous few years, Pop icon Janet Jackson is prepping a return to the music scene with the help of original collaborators Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis.

According to sources working close to the as-yet-untitled project, Jackson has been in the lab for the last month and a half with the production duo, who have been the creative forces behind her biggest hits.

With Jackson no longer with Def Jam, it is currently unknown which label the record will be released on.

As one of those who felt Janet's last three releases ('Damita Jo', '20 Y.O' and 'Discipline') were deserving of more success, I'm definitely looking forward to her next record - one that will hopefully be handled correctly.

While I'm sure the inevitable 'She's done' mutters will greet whatever she serves up, it's hard to deny Ms. Jackson's musical viability.

We heard that the breakup of their marriage started when Nas found out about Kelis’ sex tape with a rapper.

Madonna's Bunny Ears: Can Anyone Buy a Pair?

Yes, you too can own your very own Louis Vuitton bunny ears like the ones Madonna wore this week to the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute Gala! Sorta.

A modified version of the Marc Jacobs- designed accessory will hit stores this fall, according to a rep for the French luxury fashion house.

"They will be much, much smaller, and the bunny ears will be attached to a headband," the rep says.

The silk ears will be offered in black only. A price has not been set yet.
So where did Madge find the wacky headpiece?

The original bunny ears made their catwalk debut in March at the Louis Vuitton Fall 2009 show at the Louvre in Paris. No word if Madonna will be sportin' any in her upcoming ad campaign for LV.

While Madge's ensemble last night may not be getting the best reviews, there's at least one style trendsetter in New York who's giving the music queen props for daring to be different.

"Loved it," exclaims Simon Doonan, creative guru at Barneys New York and author of Eccentric Glamour. "This is a great era for glamorous eccentricity. People are bored with glamour gowns."

Doonan goes on to say, "The ultraconvention al glamour-gown look? That's so last century, dahling! Think Lady Gaga!"

Madonna and her bunny ears were seen after the gala at Jacobs' afterparty at Monkey Bar.

Before Beyoncé Knowles performed "At Last" for Barack and Michelle Obama's first dance as President and First Lady in January, the singer – who has said her onstage alter ego is the aggressive Fierce – was overcome by emotion.

"I had to tell myself, 'They asked you to do this. You have to do a great job. This is their history. Calm down. Calm down,'" she admits in the June issue of Marie Claire. "I barely made it. Literally seconds before the song started, I was crying like a 5-year-old."

But she remains proud of that moment – and all of her accomplishments so far. "Fifteen years from now, I want to be able to look back and say 'Wow.' That's where I was at 27. That was my best."

And it certainly has been a big year: Last April, she married Jay-Z, 39, and the busy couple work hard to spend time together. "We try to sync our calendars," Knowles says.

"I started working on my tour a year ago just to make sure that I had time at home. But you know, that's part of it. Any other woman who has to go to work and pick up the kids and make dinner – that's way harder than what I have to do. At least I can say I'm taking two weeks off and really take two weeks off."

Chris Brown's Defense Begins to Unfold

The singer's lawyer, Mark Geragos, filed a request in a Los Angeles court Wednesday seeking access to LAPD records, arguing that Rihanna's injury photo – widely distributed on the Web – was "illegally leaked to the media" by police and may result in a case dismissal, RadarOnline reports.

"I am informed and believe that this highly prejudicial photograph was sold by an LAPD officer to the entertainment website, TMZ," Geragos states.

"The photograph was immediately viewed by hundreds of thousands of viewers and was displayed on every news channel for several weeks ... The purpose of the leak was necessarily for profit and to vilify Mr. Brown and poison the potential jury pool."

Geragos adds that if LAPD records show "dishonest conduct" by its officers, "I intend to use such evidence at the preliminary hearing to attack their credibility ... I believe there is a reasonable likelihood that the case will be dismissed at the preliminary hearing."

Will Geragos's gambit work? A judge will decide. But, says L.A. criminal defense attorney Jeffery Rubenstein, who's not involved in the case: "It's unlikely the judge will dismiss the case on the grounds of leaked evidence. It's not police conduct at issue here, it's Chris Brown's."

Brown, 20, has pleaded not guilty to allegedly beating Rihanna on Feb. 8th.

Toni Braxton Impersonator Faces Trial

A Las Vegas-based entertainer has been jailed after prosecutors said she tried to pass herself off as Toni Braxton at a concert, prompting the disappointed crowd to jeer and pelt the stage with trash. Her husband says she's the victim of a local con artist.

Prosecutors contend Trina Johnson-Finn attempted to pass herself off as the six-time Grammy winner at a much-hyped show in a South American country more than two months ago.

Her husband said she wasn't trying to fool anyone and was duped by a promoter who scammed people into paying up to $53 thinking they would hear the famous singer. The promoter was arrested on Monday.

There seems to be no argument, however, that the concert was a bomb. Numerous people in the crowd of 3,000 began to jeer and pelt the stage with trash when the singer hit a sour note at the beginning of the second song. She was rushed off the stage to a loud chorus of boos.

In a telephone interview from Las Vegas, Raymond Finn blamed the event's promoter, Angel Ventura of Events for Suriname, who could not be found after the concert. He was arrested Monday in a bar in Paramaribo, the capital of this small former Dutch colony with 480,000 inhabitants.

He said Ventura, without his wife's knowledge, promoted her as being the real Braxton. He also charged that Ventura pilfered the box office proceeds.

Raymond Finn, who was released without being charged after two weeks in custody, said Ventura hired his wife to perform a tribute act for a private party. U.S. booking agency RNRH Entertainment hired her to impersonate Braxton, with an understanding that the crowd knew she was a look-a-like.

"Trina's been isolated there for two months. She doesn't understand why she's being used as a scapegoat," Finn said. He said he believes his wife was arrested "to appease public anger."

Police said Ventura, who authorities previously asserted had fled the country, was not cooperating with the fraud investigation.

"I'm relieved he's in custody," Finn said. "I'm outraged that he's apparently been in Suriname the entire time."

The Circus, Britney Spears’ first arena tour in five years, began March 3 in New Orleans and wound up its U.S. and Canada dates April 29 in Chicago. The star will take a short break before taking the tour to London.

And when the pop tart does check in to the Dorchester Hotel, a favorite of Elizabeth Taylor's, she's voiced a few requests for things she'd like upon check-in.

Among her requests are a room that has "never" been smoked in, several humidifiers, a few magazines, fresh flowers to arrange to her pleasing, DVDs of her favorite Marilyn Monroe films, "chick literature," 100 watt light bulbs, a map of running routes for Hyde Park, as well as some horse-back riding opportunities, and a list of different routes from the hotel to the venue to help evade the paps.

The singer will be bringing her own pillow supply. It's nothing to do with the hotel, her staff says, it just a comfort thing.

Also, security will sleep outside her room.

Spears will check in under various names. So far one been Sugar Kane, a reference to favorite Monroe movie "Some Like it Hot."

Madonna Demanded To Tone Down Russia Show

Madonna is set to perform a controversial concert in Russia.

The singer wants to stage a show in the main square of St Petersburg, home of the State Hermitage Museum, in August but local authorities are furious about the plans.

They have branded the proposed event a “natural disaster” and the museum’s director, Dr Mikhail Piotrovski will demand the pop superstar signs an agreement to set out decency and volume levels.

He fumed: "We want guarantees that there will be no blasphemy."

Madonna, 50, is not the first star to be warned about her raunchy stage show.

In October 2007, Beyonce Knowles cancelled her concert in Malaysia after she was told to tone down her performance and follow the Muslim country’s strict dress code.

Gwen Stefani was also told to cover up during her Malaysian concert in August 2007.

The flamboyant star wore sober outfits but called it a “major sacrifice.”

She put jackets over her tops and leotards underneath her skirts and dresses, to conform to the guidelines during the show.

North American fans of international pop superstar Kylie Minogue will finally get a chance to experience the icon live in concert when her 6-city tour kicks off in Oakland, CA on September 30th.

The multi-platinum Australian pop singer Kylie Minogue will perform in six North American cities this fall, including New York and Los Angeles, her concert promoters have announced.

The singer, 40, is also slated to appear on Friday's fourth hour of NBC's Today show, with Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford.

"I've wanted to tour in America and Canada for years and know that fans have been waiting a long time for this," Minogue said in a statement. "I'm thrilled that the opportunity has finally arrived."

Tickets will go on sale in each market on the weekend of May 15, however early access to tickets in the U.S. will be available to American Express Cardmembers beginning this Thursday, May 7, through Ticketmaster.

In Katy Perry's new single, "Waking Up in Vegas," she sings about getting into trouble in Sin City – something she knows about from experience.

Three years ago, the pop star, 24, went to Las Vegas with a boyfriend and decided to get "fake married," she tells PopEater.com. "We took all the pictures with the minister, with the fake cake, in the fake chapel and got a fake marriage certificate.

We went and bought a wedding dress and a suit at a thrift store, and scanned the pictures and the certificate to my family members, my manager at the time [and] totally freaked the s--- out of them."

Perry, who was recently spotted with ex-boyfriend Travis McCoy, does hope to actually settle down in the future.

"I plan on having a family one day and maybe not keeping up with all of the glamour," says the fashion-minded singer, who is enjoying her new role as a style icon. "It's nice to show up at my shows and then see the girls in the front row having their hair cut like mine or having the little embellishments in their hair."

Lil’ Kim Ousted in Shocking Dancing Elimination!

The season’s biggest surprise came Tuesday night when Lil’ Kim and partner Derek Hough were eliminated from Dancing with the Stars.

The couple, who often led with the highest scores of season 8, found themselves at the bottom two, alongside Ty Murray and partner Chelsie Hightower.

The crowd gasped, some even booed, when the results were announced. Tears filled Kim’s eyes, but it wasn’t long before she and Hough were laughing and hugging again.

“Did they make a mistake,” she joked afterward. Hough added, “It doesn’t matter when it is, even when you think you’re going to be eliminated, when you hear your name it still feels terrible.”

The petite rapper wowed audiences — and often the judges — with her energetic dancing, and as a result was rewarded each week with a standing ovation.

“The greatest feeling is when I’m out here and the crowd is going crazy. The energy from the crowd is the best,” said the rapper about her favorite part of the experience.

Christina Aguilera Is Infact Going 'Burlesque'

We brought you rumored news last week and it appears that Christina Aguilera will infact make her screen debut for Screen Gems in "Burlesque," a contemporary musical that Steven Antin will direct. Antin wrote a script that was revised by "Erin Brockovich" scribe Susannah Grant.

Aguilera will play an ambitious smalltown girl with a big voice who finds love, family and success in a Los Angeles neo-burlesque club that appears to be right out of Bob Fosse's "Cabaret."

Donald De Line will produce. The picture will shoot late this year.

While Aguilera has won four Grammy Awards, a Latin Grammy and has sold more than 25 million albums, she has never starred in a film, though she lent her voice to the animated "Shark Tale."

"I couldn't be more excited, as this was a project written with her in mind," Screen Gems topper Clint Culpepper said.

Deal comes on the heels of Screen Gems benefiting from the star power of another songstress, Beyonce Knowles, who toplined thriller hit "Obsessed."

It was a star-studded audience at Lady Gaga's concert in New York last night, with the likes of Madonna and Cyndi Lauper in attendance.

Madonna, who arrived with an entourage that included toyboy Jesus, daughter Lourdes and fashion photographer Stephen Klein, wore cropped camouflage combat trousers with dated flat pointed slippers.

Only a fitted leather jacket offered a glimpse of the 50-year-old's toned physique, but unkempt hair was otherwise in keeping with her scruffy look.

Like Madonna, Cyndi Lauper also sported a leather jacket, but the lace ensemble beneath was rather mutton-dressed-as-lamb.

The 55-year-old, whose blonde crop appeared to have been backcombed, wore a super-short miniskirt and black lace shirt, teamed with lacy tights and platform shoes.

Jennifer Hudson Sidelined By Throat Condition

Jennifer Hudson is taking a break this week from her national tour with Robin Thicke. Doctors are said to be treating her for a throat condition related to her singing.

Last night's stop in Oakland, Calif., was postponed until May 19th. This week's concerts in Dallas and Houston have also been rescheduled for later dates, according to Thicke's rep.

Hudson last performed on Saturday at L.A.'s Nokia Theatre. I was there, and she proved to be a real superstar because she didn't show any signs that something may have been wrong.

So just how well did Ms. Hudson do?

Throughout her hour-long set, she was hitting all of those very high and very powerful notes that she's become so famous for. Her best numbers were "You Pulled Me Through" and "If This Isn't Love." No surprise, but her one encore was "And I Am Telling You (I'm Not Going)" from Dreamgirls.

Rihanna was set to make her comeback performance on May 28th with a major concert in Dubai, her first official public appearance and performance since all the Chris Brown drama.

The concert had been promoted for weeks and was definitely going to be huge. "Was" is the keyword as the concert has now been canceled!

According to Vibe Event Management, the company promoting the event, the concert is officially off.

Family In Madonna Adoption Case 'Laugh Off' Dad's Plea

As the hearing on Madonna's adoption appeal gets under way in Malawi, the family of the girl at the center of the controversy – 4-year-old Mercy Chifundo James – rejected efforts by the child's apparent biological father to claim her.

"He said he wanted to make peace with us. He said he wanted to be allowed to take care of his child, but we laughed him off. Where was he all this time?" said one of Mercy's uncles, Peter Baneti.

The father, James Kambewa, visited the girl's clan Saturday in the mud-and-thatch village outpost of Zaone, in the eastern district of Zomba. He was accompanied by his aunt, a man and another woman, the uncle said.

Baneti had signed the adoption papers that would have allowed Madonna to call Mercy her daughter, but the southern African country's High Court rejected the pop singer's efforts.

On Monday, the case was adjourned for ruling after arguments were heard from the singer's lawyers and from two rights groups, one supporting the singer's bid to adopt, the other against.

Miss Janet's Wardrobe Malfunction Still On Trial

The Supreme Court on Monday ordered a federal appeals court to re-examine its ruling in favor of CBS Corp. in a legal fight over entertainer Janet Jackson’s wardrobe malfunction.

The high court on Monday directed the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Philadelphia to consider reinstating the $550,000 fine that the Federal Communications Commission imposed on CBS over Jackson’s breast-baring performance at the 2004 Super Bowl.

The order follows the high court ruling last week that narrowly upheld the FCC’s policy threatening fines against even one-time uses of curse words on live television.

In a statement, CBS said the Supreme Court’s decision was not a surprise given last week’s ruling and expressed confidence the court will again find the incident was not and could not have been anticipated by the network.

Pink, 29, has always been surrounded by rumours about her sexuality, but in the past has always firmly denied she would ever start a relationship with a woman.

The singer, who has sold more than 34 million albums worldwide, added: "My love knows no color, no gender, no fuss."

Her revelation will excite Pink's devoted army of lesbian fans, but she's already preparing herself for a backlash.

"I speak my mind, I sing about everyday stuff such as homosexuality and sadly the homophobia that always comes with it," she admitted.

Having professed her love for Tony Romo, whom she's been dating since Thanksgiving 2007, Jessica Simpson now has the Dallas Cowboys quarterback speaking up about her.

"We're very similar in that we both appreciate the hometown feel to a lot of things, and live our life like that," Romo, described as "big, easy, handsome," tells the June issue of Vanity Fair (on sale in New York and Los Angeles May 6th and nationally May 12th). "She comes to a ton of games," he says. "She's a supportive girlfriend."

He adds, "You know, it's very hard when you lose, because games are important, and so many people put so much time and effort in. It's nice to have someone to come home to and try and make you feel better."

Simpson, 28, concurs. "That's how the story goes," she says. "Can't help it. But we don't let it affect our relationship. If we did, we wouldn't be together, because it happened at the very beginning. Dating the Cowboys quarterback comes with hype, the fans, the bloggers, but I've never dated a guy that was more simple. I'm always there for him after a game, and he knows he has me to come home to."

Where has the time gone? With smiles on their faces, Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon celebrated one year of wedded bliss Thursday in Las Vegas at the Palms Casino Resort.

"It's a very special occasion," Cannon told the crowd at Moon Nightclub, where he was deejaying, "toast to everyone."

After a very private wedding a year ago, the couple decided to do the opposite for their anniversary, celebrating with a nightclub full of people. The couple did, however, dine in a private room at Simon beforehand.

Once inside the club, the couple were greeted with a four-foot birthday cake. And the surprises kept coming – at least for Carey. Unbeknownst to her, Cannon produced a video of the couple's last year, including video of intimate moments.

After the video was shown, Carey was seen crying.

"This is the most amazing person in the world," Cannon said into the microphone about his wife. "I dedicate my life to her daily, and together this union is gonna last forever. She is my rock."

Carey replied: "I have the best man in the whole wide world."

The gushfest continued after a balloon drop and a clubwide toast, which Cannon dedicated to his wife.

Confirmed: Kelis Files for Divorce

One of hip hop’s most talked about married couples have split.

VIBE has confirmed that Nas and Kelis are headed for a divorce. “I can confirm that she has filed for divorce,” a spokesperson for Kelis told VIBE.

“We request the media to respect her privacy during this very difficult time."

At around 3:45pm PST, high-powered attorney Laura Wasser (who has also represented Britney Spears, Angelina Jolie, and Stevie Wonder) filed a divorce petition today on behalf of Kelis, citing irreconciable differences.

The bombshell comes amid recent reports that the acclaimed rhymer and influential R&B vixen were expecting their first child together—a son. Kelis is currently seven months pregnant.

After returning from a girls getaway with Katy Perry in Barbados, Rihanna was spotted hitting the town with Jay-Z Thursday night.

The two dined with five other guests at Katsuya Hollywood, and were talking about their new music, says a source, adding that it wasn't all business. "They had a really good time."

The casually-dressed group dined on yellowtail with jalapeño, miso cod, and baked crab hand roll, complemented by Houereki sake.
