Jennifer Lopez will star in a new CBS Films' feature 'The Back-Up Plan.'

The romantic comedy features Lopez as Zoe, a woman who embarks on a journey to motherhood using artificial insemination, only to meet a possible Mr. Right named Stan (O'Loughlin) on the day of her insemination.

The couple begins dating, with Zoe confusing their early relationship by hiding her pregnancy. After she reveals her secret, Stan unexpectedly sticks by her side.

But as the birth approaches, the pressures of their new relationship and her impending motherhood could split them apart.

'The Back-Up Plan,' is the first feature from CBS Films and will be directed by "Six Feet Under"'s Alan Poul. The movie is set to begin filming in Los Angeles in May and will premiere in theaters in January 2010.

Madonna Cheered Up By Friend Stella McCartney

Madonna sought comfort from friend Stella McCartney last night after jetting back to the UK from Malawi.

The singer was said to be 'devastated and shaking' at having to leave four-year-old Mercy in the African country after a judge rejected her adoption bid.

The 50-year-old, who touched down in Luton airport on Sunday afternoon, went to London restaurant Cecconi's with the fashion designer.

Dressed in a black and white print dress, the singer was ushered into the venue by minders who put a protective arm around her.

A cut was visible on her arm, but it was not clear how she sustained the injury.

Despite the strain of recent days, the singer managed a smile as she made her way through the scrum of photographers.

The pair will induct Patti Labelle and Quincy Jones into the Apollo Legends Hall of Fame at the celebration, where Anita Baker and the O'Jays will also perform.

Rihanna’s dad tells US Weekly, “So what happened? Somebody else did this to Rihanna then. I just would like to see justice go in the right direction.”

Fenty explains, “I don’t want his career to be damaged — it’s damaged already. I think he’s a talented guy, but everybody should have to pay. When you do the crime, you do the time. I don’t want to see him locked up for a long time — I just want him to acknowledge and get some help.”

Unsatisfied, Ronald continues, “Who did it — that’s the question now. If he’s not guilty, who did it? He should say ‘guilty’ and let the court be leaning into him and try himself to the mercy of the court, see if he gets a fine…”

“Now he’s going to go beyond that and it could go longer, it can be even worse. It can be worse for him in the long run.”

Britney Considers Taking The Circus Down Under

Britney Spears' tour may be heading south. Way south.

In court today, attorneys representing the popster and father Jamie's conservatorship discussed the possibility of taking Spears' supremely successful Circus tour to Australia.

Nothing was decided at what was otherwise a largely uneventful hearing pertaining to the conservatorship, which has been in place since Feb. 1, 2008, and was extended indefinitely in December.

Another court date has been set for April 14th.

The Circus Starring Britney Spears unfolds in Edmonton tonight, after which the song-and-dance extravaganza hits Vancouver before heading southward along the West Coast.

As the schedule stands, Spears' troupe touches down June 3rd in London, where they'll do eight shows (all sold out), and then wraps up June 17th in Manchester.

It seems Jessica Simpson's record label may have dropped her!

It appears that her name and information no longer appears on either the Columbia Nashville or Sony Music Nashville websites. Even her artist page that tells all about her and her music is gone.

Even a search of each site finds that any prior mention of her photos, profile, press releases - has apparently been purged.

So could this be the reason for the sudden trip to Cabo instead of the ACMs?

No official statements have been released.

Father Of Madonna Orphan Surfaces, Wants To Support Child

Madonna has now left Malawi but the controversy she stirred up there with her ongoing attempt to adopt a child hasn't simmered down.

First, the long-missing father of 3-year-old Mercy James, the child Madonna would like to make her own, has surfaced – and he claims he wants to be a part of his daughter's life.

The young man, James Kambewa, tells PEOPLE he didn't even know his daughter was alive until her name surfaced in the Madonna adoption case. Now a security guard, Kambewa says he learned the girl's mother, 15-year-old Mwandida Maunde, had died – and assumed their child was dead too.

"Now that I know [Mercy] is alive I am willing to support her," Kambewa says. He and Maunde were both high school students when they conceived the child. "Her parents were furious that I had messed up their daughter. They caused hell for me so I left town," says Kambewa.

Top Model Casting Rescheduled

Casting calls for the latest America's Next Top Model last month turned downright scary after fights broke out while hundreds waited for an audition. But producers are soldiering ahead with another audition in New York.

The auditions will take place April 11 at a location to be announced. (Exact details will be posted on CWTV.com later in the week.) Like the earlier call, producers are looking for women age 18-27, who are 5'7" and under – and from diverse backgrounds. As a concession to security, new rules stipulate that nobody is allowed to line up overnight nor before 6 a.m. on the day of the casting. Prospective models will also be handed wristbands while waiting in line.

Tyra Banks subsequently issued a statement after the riot at the March 14 casting that resulted in two people's hospitalization. "To all the Top Model hopefuls who were affected by the New York casting, we are doing everything we can to make sure that ALL the girls who weren't seen, get an opportunity to audition," Banks said at the time.

Chris Brown Due Back in Court for Rihanna Case

The day has finally come for Chris Brown to face the music. And the judge.

Nearly two months after the 19-year-old was booked on suspicion of assault over a bloody altercation with on-off girlfriend Rihanna, he's due to return to court this afternoon, ostensibly to enter a plea on two felony counts: assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury and making criminal threats.

Brown and attorney Mark Geragos initially turned up at the singer's scheduled arraignment last month, but the celebrity attorney earned his paycheck by successfully requesting a monthlong postponement in the case, in hopes of working out a jail-avoiding deal.

Today's hearing was pushed back from the morning to the afternoon amid last-minute negotiations between the plea-hungry defense and the charge-seeking prosecution. It's unclear what the status of the talks are, but a closed-doors hearing expected to take place last month was canceled without explanation.

Whatever the outcome, the courtroom will be noticeably absent one supportive superstar during the proceedings: Rihanna.

Carrie Underwood became the first woman since 2001 to be named ACM entertainer of the year – and only the seventh female to win the Academy of Country Music's top honor since it was first handed out in 1970.

"I've had a lot of good moments in the last four years. This one takes the cake!" said a teary-eyed Underwood, her voice cracking onstage Sunday at the 44th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards.

"I don't know what to say! I got nothing." But she did remember one important person: Raising her trophy, she yelled, "Mike, baby, I wish you were here!" in a shout-out to her boyfriend, Ottawa Senators hockey player Mike Fisher.

Underwood also took home the award for top female vocalist, a repeat of last year's win.

Madonna Leaves Malawi, Heads To London

Madonna left Malawi early Sunday after her failed adoption bid for a 3-year-old girl named Mercy James, who was preparing to return to the orphanage where the singer found her.

Madonna's plans received a massive setback Friday when a judge rejected her bid to adopt. The singer, 50, has since filed an appeal against the ruling.

"We are ready with our grounds challenging [High Court judge] Chombo's ruling," Madonna’s Malawian lawyer Alan Chinula stated.

A staffer at the singer's Raising Malawi charity said Anne Chikhwaza, Director of the Kondanani Children's Village, drove to Kumbali Lodge, where the singer had been staying, Sunday morning to collect Mercy to take her back to the orphanage.

"Madonna spent some time with Mercy; she looked sad but Lourdes, who had clicked with the little girl, looked devastated," said the staffer.

Madonna is believed to be headed for London to celebrate Passover, which would allow her children to reunite with the singer's ex-husband, Guy Ritchie.

Nicole Scherzinger Talks Britney Spears

With the hectic schedule, the Pussycat Dolls haven’t been able to get any time to chill out with Britney. “This is her tour, and I’m sure she’s busy, and I’m always doing press right before we get onstage,” she said. “We haven’t had too much interaction, but we’re always planning stuff.”

Perhaps the girls will all be able to meet up onstage at some point during the tour. “That would be super fun,” she said. “We did that when we were [on tour] with Christina [Aguilera].”

Nicole Scherzinger also hopes that touring with a pop staple like Britney will attract a new fanbase to the Dolls. “Britney’s been around so much longer and been around people who might not know us,” she said.

For Brit’s Circus, the girls decided to do a mini-version of their Doll Domination show. “We kept our same original look. We kept it PCD-style,” she said. “We were on tour already, and we picked one outfit from the costume changes. We wanted it to be colorful and fun and sparkly and things that the kids could relate to.”

If the ladies ever find time in their schedules, maybe they could squeeze in a Britney-vs.-Dolls dance-off. “I would be afraid. She can throw down. She’s got some moves,” Nicole said. “If we had a dance-off, maybe it would be more of a collaboration dance or maybe one of the other girls can do it; I’ll just stand and watch. She’s a great dancer and a great performer.”

Madonna Plans Further Action On Adoption Bid

After her adoption application was denied in Malawi today, Madonna plans to take further action in the proceedings.

According to the Associated Press, Madonna's lawyer says the star will appeal the rejection of her bid to adopt a 3-year-old girl in Malawi. Her lawyer tells the AP that he has "filed notice for appeal in the Supreme Court of Appeal," but that a date has not been set.

A judge in Malawi denied the adoption application earlier today because prospective parents must be residents of the country for a period of 18 - 24 months, the Associated Press reports.

She was seen leaving the place with Melissa and some bodyguards. When leaving Rihanna was involved in a fender bender, again. It was just a little dent on the car, so they had to change cars.

A source tells: ”When they left the restaurant around 9:45 PM, the driver was going crazy……he was burning every red light - about 30 of them! Finally he ended up crashing into a taxi because he was driving so dangerously.”

RiRi seemed on good mood and smiled and talked with the photograph!

Another source tells: ”Rihanna didn’t seemd to be too worried about the accident. She had to wait a while inside the car before a second limo came to pick her up but when she got into the other car, she looked fine. She just moved quickly so the paps wouldn’t get a shot of her and then the car sped away.”

Madonna Loses Bid To Adopt Malawi Child

Madonna will not be allowed to adopt a second child from Malawi, a 4-year-old girl named Mercy James, the African country's High Court ruled on Friday.

The ruling will please campaigners who say authorities have given the pop star special treatment. Malawi's government, which came under fire after Madonna adopted a 13-month-old Malawian boy, had said on Thursday it would support a second adoption.

Court registrar Ken Manda told reporters the American singer's bid to adopt Mercy had been rejected because she was not a resident of Malawi.

An AIDS epidemic in the impoverished southern African country has orphaned more than one million children and Madonna has set up a charity for Malawian children.

Her lawyer, Alan Chinula, said he had lodged an appeal over the ruling with the Supreme Court.

"I just filed the notice of appeal this afternoon on instructions from my client," Chinula told Reuters.

"I'm currently studying the judgement so that I can come up with the grounds to appeal."

In her ruling, Judge Esimie Chombo warned against celebrity adoptions because they could lead to child trafficking.

She definitely wasn't dressed in blue to match her mood. Rihanna, sporting a new hairstyle, smiled and laughed as walked through Honolulu airport Wednesday.

The 21-year-old singer slipped undetected through LAX at the start of her latest getaway, according to a source, and has been staying at hotel on the Hawaiian island of Oahu.

Rihanna has been traveling a lot since allegedly being assaulted by Chris Brown, 19, in February. After a solo trip to Mexico, she and Brown reconciled and spent time together in Miami and L.A. In mid-March, Rihanna hit N.Y.C. – sans Brown.

At the time, a source told PEOPLE, "She is looking forward to getting back to work and focusing on her career again."

Malawi Government Supports Madonna's Adoption

Despite a strenuous opposition, the Malawi government has thrown its support behind Madonna's bid to adopt 3-year-old Chifundo "Mercy" James.

Malawian Information Minister Patricia Kaliati told Reuters the star has helped the southern African country and is impressed with her mothering skills.

"Madonna has been good to us, she is supporting over 25,000 orphans in this country and she has proved that she can take care of David," she said. "Very few rich and famous people can take time to fly all the way to Malawi to support our children. We support her adoption process."

Tomorrow, the country's High Court is set to rule whether or not the 50-year-old biological mother of Lourdes, 12, and Rocco, 8, and adopted mother of David Banda, 3, will be granted an interim adoption.

Madonna's local African lawyer, Alan Chinula, is confident the adoption will be approved.

"I am not sleeping sleepless nights over this," he told Us Weekly. "I don't see any law in Malawi that can stop this adoption."

The attorney also confirms that much of the paperwork has already been completed. He says the girl's uncle, Peter Baneti, "has already signed off the consent forms, and Madonna countersigned them."

Mariah Jets In To Play At Sol's Hotel In South Africa

Mariah Carey arrived in Cape Town on Thursday to lead the festivities at the glamorous opening of Sol Kerzner's new hotel.

One&Only, next to the Two Oceans Aquarium in the V&A Waterfront, opens on Thursday night after an investment rumoured to have totalled R1-billion.

The internationally famous hotelier - best known locally for building the vast Sun City out of the dry bushveld in the Pilanesberg mountains in the North-West province, is expected to put on one of his famously lavish shows to open his Cape Town masterpiece.

A Hollywood-style red carpet is expected to be rolled out to welcome stars Robert de Niro, Sharon Stone, rapper Mos Def and Bebe Winans. Former model Yasmin le Bon will be there, with daughter Saffron.

Lawyer: Britney Spears Compares Dad's Control to "Prison"

Britney Spears' life under her dad's conservatorship is like "prison," a lawyer for her former manager, Sam Lutfi, charged today in a hearing at L.A. Superior Court.

John Anderson testified he was contacted by another lawyer, John Eardley, to represent Britney in her fight against the conservatorship (which gives Jamie Spears control over her personal and financial affairs). He also says Jamie's control is causing the singer "emotional distress [that is ongoing] now."

Spears, 27, whose phone access is strictly limited by her father Jamie, had initially called Sam's cell phone number in mid-January to speak with Christina.

"[Britney] told me she wanted to get a hold of Sam," said Christina, 25, whose brother had once been Spears's manager. "She wanted him to help her find a lawyer, and wanted someone to get a prepaid cell phone to her. She was scared because her father was blackmailing her with visitation rights over her kids."

Project Runway Returns to TV This Summer!

Project Runway is returning to television this summer — and it will air on Lifetime.

According to the network, legal battles surrounding beleaguered reality show’s already-filmed sixth season have been amicably resolved. “The Weinstein Company will pay NBCU for the right to move Project Runway to Lifetime. All of the parties are pleased with the outcome,” the networks say in a joint statement.

Changing gears, the upcoming season of Project Runway relocated from New York to Los Angeles, though it will continue to be hosted by Heidi Klum and judged by Michael Kors and Nina Garcia. Tim Gunn will also mentor the designers. As usual, the finale was shot during New York Fashion Week — this year on Feb. 20.

In addition, sources close to the show have told PEOPLE that Project Runway’s season 6 will utilize “local resources” in Los Angeles — namely focusing more on Hollywood — and will feature appearances by Christina Aguilera, Eva Longoria Parker and Rebecca Romijn.

APRIL FOOLS! Madonna Twitters About Upcoming Blu-Ray Releases

Madonna has once again used her manager's Twitter account to announce two new releases this fall.

Longtime friend and manager Guy Oseary wrote: "Sitting here twittering again with Madonna. As always, she wants to say hello to all the iconers out there and all of her fans."

"Madonna is ready to celebrate! In addition to the gh package coming out this fall, she is pleased to announce the blu-ray releases of TWO tours: Re-Invention and Sticky and Sweet."

When a fan asked what the delay had been on these releases, Madonna joined in on the cyber chat and typed a message that expressed her delight.

The singer appeared to reply: "A GIRL CAN'T GIVE UP ALL HER SECRETS THAT EASY LOL....M."

Before Oseary signed off, he shared details that Madonna had agreed to the Blu-Ray format only. It appears the Material Girl is saying goodbye to DVD.

Katy Perry currently is becoming inseparable from Bajan songstress Rihanna.

The “I Kissed a Girl” singer gets in touch with Rihanna in order to help her overcoming sadness following Chris Brown’s case for allegedly assaulting her in February.

It is also said that Katy has cheered the “Disturbia” singer up by taking her for “girly nights out.”

“Katy was there when Rihanna needed her the most and as terrible as the stuff with Chris is, at least one good thing has come of it,” The Sun quotes a source as saying.

“Both of them have had man troubles recently so they are enjoying having some girly time.”

Malawi Civil Society Groups Oppose Madonna's Attempted Adoption

Madonna is "not skirting any legal issues" in her bid to adopt a young girl from Malawi, her spokeswoman said on Tuesday amid criticism the U.S. singer is receiving special treatment in the southeast African country.

Malawi civil society groups have said they plan to oppose Madonna's attempted adoption of four-year-old Mercy James, while a prominent local human rights activist said the move would amount to child trafficking.

Madonna appeared in court in Malawi on Monday seeking to adopt Mercy. The case was adjourned until April 3rd (Friday).

"The adoption process for Mercy began over a year ago when Madonna met her on one of her visits to Malawi. The connection was instant and profound," spokeswoman Liz Rosenberg said in a statement emailed to Reuters. "Madonna's desire to adopt Mercy is totally heartfelt."

"She is not skirting any legal issues in her application to adopt this child and is looking to provide a loving family environment and the best education and health care possible for a child who has been in an orphanage since her birth," said Rosenberg.

She said Madonna has "tremendous support" in Malawi for the adoption, including from President Bingu Wa Mutharika.

Critics had accused the government of giving Madonna, one of the world's most successful performing artists, special treatment when she adopted her three-year-old Malawian son David Banda, saying it skirted laws that ban nonresidents from adopting children.

Rosenberg said the singer has taken David to visit his biological father in Malawi. Madonna took custody of David in October 2006. A court formally approved the adoption in May 2008.

"Madonna is committed to maintaining an ongoing relationship with David's Malawian roots," Rosenberg said.

Jennfier Hudson Ready For More Sex & The City

Oscar-winner Jennifer Hudson is desperate to reprise her role as Carrie Bradshaw's assistant in the eagerly anticipated Sex & The City sequel.

Hudson starred as Louise from St. Louis in the first big screen adaptation of the TV series, which saw her character eventually leave New York to return to her Missouri hometown.

The movie was a box office hit, with writer/director Michael Patrick King confirming earlier this year (Feb09) that a follow-up is on its way - and Hudson hopes her character will make another appearance.

She tells Access Hollywood, “I would love (to play her again). I told Michael Patrick King that Louise has moved back to New York from St. Louis, so… I’ll be ready if that opportunity comes.”
